PG & E Warehouse - Emeryville, CA

ESE was retained by PG&E to provide seismic strenghthening of the General Construction Building in Emeryville. This project consisted of an existing 18,000 square foot building constructed in the 1920's of reinforced concrete bearing walls and timber roof trusses that was converted into a transformer and equipment storage facility.

The objective of the evaluation and upgrade as set by PG&E was not only to prevent collapse or major damages but to render the building operational after a major earthquake including truck access into and out of the building. ESE developed special seismic design criteria beyond what is required by Code to achieve PG&E's objective.
