New Benicia Martinez Bridge - Northern California

ESE is the structural engineer of record for the design of the protective fender system for the foundation pile caps of this major bridge in northern California. ESE also performed a push over analysis of the piers and pile foundation system as a member of the design team which included TY Lin International and CH2M Hill. This five lane, 1.7 mile bridge connecting Solano and Contra Costa counties on Interstate 680 in California is designed to withstand a 1,000 to 2,000 year earthquake. The total construction cost of this major bridge presently under construction is one billion dollars. The bridge is scheduled to open for service in mid 2007.
